Seminarian Fr. Evan Ashmore
Class of 2026

Meet Fr. Evan Ashmore

Fr. Evan Ashmore is a seminarian in the St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary Class of 2026 from Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in State College, Pennsylvania, in the Archdiocese of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania of the Orthodox Church in America. He is married to Matushka Amber, with whom he has two wonderful and active boys, ages six and four.
Reflecting on the years before seminary, Fr. Evan says he spent most of his professional career using his education in psychology from Penn State University while working full-time in mental health crisis intervention and crisis counseling. In that role, he met with and talked with countless people facing a wide variety of crises in homes, schools, emergency departments, and many other settings. Looking back, he says those experiences taught him the vital need to listen, to connect, to encourage, and to "do what needs to be done" in love for the good of the situation at hand, qualities he believes are invaluable to ministry in the Church.

Outside of seminary, Fr. Evan enjoys hiking, playing games with his family, unicycling, reading, and dabbling in clothes-making as a hobby.
When asked what he loves about St. Tikhon's, Fr. Evan Ashmore says:
“I love the opportunity to draw on the wisdom, knowledge, and experience of various instructors, hierarchs, priests, and fellow seminarians who are dedicated to serving Christ and His Church as well as participating in a fuller liturgical cycle than is typically possible in a parish setting. ”
