Theological Education & Vocational Formation at St. Tikhon’s
At St. Tikhon’s Seminary, theological education extends beyond the classroom. Rooted in the life and Tradition of the Orthodox Church, academic study is integrated with worship, spiritual formation, pastoral training, and field education. Students learn within a close-knit Orthodox community where theological study is strengthened by participation in the liturgical and spiritual life of the Church.
Through this comprehensive approach, St. Tikhon’s seeks not only to provide rigorous theological education, but also to foster personal transformation and growth. Academic study, worship, practical training, and life together in community provide students with the theological, liturgical, spiritual, and pastoral foundations necessary to meet the spiritual and pastoral needs of the people and communities they will be called to serve.

A three-year residential Master of Divinity program preparing students for ordained ministry and lay leadership.
Certificate In Diaconal Formation
A part-time, two-year non-degree certificate program intended to prepare men for the holy diaconate.
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program
An accredited clinical pastoral education certificate program designed to strengthen pastoral skills.
Certificate In Prison Ministry
A non-degree certificate program intended to prepare clergy and lay volunteers for Orthodox ministry in correctional settings.
St. Tikhon's Seminary Chicago Program
A hybrid Master of Divinity program for episcopally hand-selected men in the Chicagoland area.
